This research seeks to investigate the history and culture of food in Brazil and Africa, in the works of Luís da Câmara Cascudo: História da Alimentação no Brasil (2011) and Made In Africa (2002), also proceeding to na incursion into the work of the Bahian writer Jorge Amado, contemplating the look on the act of cooking and eating in African and Brazilian cultures with the novel Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (2008), and Cascudo’s research on the theme of food. To do so, we will investigate the theme of food, considering the importance of food in the human experience in terms of abundance for some men and scarcity for others. In dealing with the work of Luís da Câmara Cascudo in his studies on food in Africa, we will bring to this reflection the relationship between food and literature, which inserts us in the colonial critique and also in authors that deal with the theme that goes through the vies of the history of cultures, fiction literature, and also of cooking. In this sense, this work is organized and seeks to know and present the relationships that food brings narratives and stories printed in the customs of preparing food, being at the table and composing cultural and literary narratives from the research of Câmara Cascudo and the fiction of Jorge Amado, distinct authors who dialogue and punctuate in their productions the aspects of food in Brazilian culture.
