Resumo: In that research were evaluated two systems of intermittent flux sand filters in UASB reactor effluent post-treatment concerning to household wastewater care. Post-treatment by the using of intermittent flux sand filters makes the reusing of effluent and the nutrients preservation, being also a conventional technology of treatment and adaptable to small communities. The present work had as its aim the investigation of UASB reactor developing followed by intermittent flux sand filters in a household wastewater treatment. The research has been evaluated through three experimental phases and the anaerobe effluent was put on two sand filters systems. One of the aerobe systems worked with one sand filter only and the other system operated with two sand filters in serie. In the first phase the reactor UASB was monitored with hydraulic holding time of 7,7 h, with flow of 1400 L day -1 and each effluent put on two sand filters system with application tax of 400 L m -2 day -1 , with daily dosages from the affluent in 8 cycles. In the second phase the anaerobe reactor worked with flow of 1150 L day -1 and hydraulic holding time of 9,4 h. The two application systems of sand filters had an application tax of 280 L m -2 day -1 , each one of them, with daily dosages from the affluent in 8 cycles. In the third time were kept the same operational characteristics used in the second phase for UASB reactor with changing in the application tax for 300 L m in the sand filters system and daily dosages from the affluent to 6 cycles. The filters system suffered blocking problems during the first and second phase when the resting period was much low for the recuperation of the filters re-oxygenizing. In the third phase with the dosages diminution and the increasing of the resting time the sand filters had no troubles of blocking. In the first and second phase the FAFin-S sand filters (Intermittent Flux Sand Filters in serie) were more efficient in the TKN and ammonia remotion compared to FAFin sand filter (Intermittent Flux Sand Filter). Now, in the third phase the ammonia medium concentrations were of 1,4 mg L -1 and 1,0 mg L -1 and some medium value for nitrate of 33 mg L -1 and 30 mg L -1 for FAFin and FAFin-S, respectively. In terms of COD the two filters systems showed remotions above 83% in the second and the third phase and elevated remotions of TSS in the measure of 89 % to 95%. The final effluent preserves the nutrients presented in household wastewater, indicating the viability of intermittent flux sand filters system in post-treatment the anaerobe effluent for the agriculture reusing of cultures, principally in semi-arid regions in Brazil.

O uso dos filtros de areia de fluxo intermitente como pós-tratamento possibilita o reuso do efluente e a preservação dos nutrientes, além de ser uma tecnologia de tratamento convencional e que se adapta a pequenas comunidades. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo investigar o desempenho de reator UASB seguido por filtros de areia de fluxo intermitente no tratamento de esgoto sanitário. O estudo foi avaliado em três fases experimentais e o efluente anaeróbio era disposto sobre dois sistemas de filtros de areia. Um dos sistemas aeróbio operou com apenas um filtro de areia e o outro sistema operou com dois filtros de areia em série. Na primeira fase foi monitorado o reator UASB com tempo de detenção hidráulica de 7,7 h, com vazão de 1400 L dia -1 e efluente disposto sobre dois sistemas de filtros de areia com taxa de aplicação de 400 L m -2 dia -1 cada, com dosagens diárias do afluente em 8 ciclos. Na segunda fase o reator anaeróbio operou com vazão de 1150 L dia -1 e tempo de detenção hidráulica de 9,4 h, os dois sistemas de filtros de areia tiveram taxa de aplicação de 280 L m cada, com dosagens diárias do afluente em 8 ciclos. Na terceira etapa manteve-se as mesmas características operacionais utilizadas na segunda fase para o reator UASB com modificações na taxa de aplicação para 300 L m -2 dia -1 nos sistemas de filtros de areia e dosagens diárias do afluente para 6 ciclos. O sistema de filtros apresentou problemas de colmatação durante a primeira e segunda fase em que o período de repouso foi mais baixo na recuperação da reoxigenação dos filtros. Na terceira etapa com a diminuição das dosagens e o aumento do tempo de repouso os filtros de areia não apresentaram problemas de entupimento. Na primeira e segunda fase os filtros de areia FAFin-S (filtros de areia de fluxo intermitente em série) foram mais eficientes na remoção de NTK e amônia comparado ao filtro de areia FAFin (filtro de areia de fluxo intermitente). Já na terceira fase as concentrações médias de amônia foram de 1,4 mg L -1 e 1,0 mg L -1 e valores médios para nitrato de 33 mg L -1 para FAFin e FAFin-S, respectivamente. Em termos de DQO os dois sistemas de filtros apresentaram remoções acima de 83 % na segunda e terceira fase e remoções elevadas de SST na faixa de 89 % a 95 %. O efluente final preservou os nutrientes presentes no esgoto, indicando a viabilidade do sistema de filtros de areia de fluxo intermitente no pós-tratamento de efluente anaeróbio para reuso agrícola de culturas, principalmente em regiões semiáridas do Brasil.Made available in DSpace on 2015-09-25T12:22:09Z (GMT).
