We argue that one of the reasons that hinder understanding and lead to the aversion that many of the students present in the discipline of physics, is linked to the way it is addressed in some content. Studies show that the use of information and communication technologies as a tool, bring significant contributions to the school practice at any level of education. So our proposal was to investigate the use of a simulator in computational physics teaching with reference to a didactic intervention in a class of 2nd year of high school, in order to verify the interest and student learning. For this we take as basis the theory of David P. Ausubel regarding the conditions for learning to occur significantly to addressing the theme transverse waves on a string with a computational simulation. The didactic intervention began to make use of a rope as one of the attempts to rescue some preconceptions of students. With the simulator computer students might notice that some concepts related to the study of a rope waves were much more detailed using computational simulator. For students the computational simulator constitutes a teaching resource that made the intervention more attractive and stimulating teaching to learning.
