Based on the assumption that the theory and the literary criticism had themed the status of the secondary characters as a less important category (GANCHO, 2002) regarding its relationship with the protagonist for a long time, the present dissertation aims to present reflections about the level of importance of these characters and their relevance in the contemporary Brazilian literature, using the written prose production by Maria Valéria Rezende from Paraíba. Thus, we point to the need for new perspectives to be launched for the works, so that there is a better understanding of the texts when we detach ourselves from the representation of the protagonist character as the only central axis of the narratives. In the three chapters of this work, the secondary actions are problematized from its immaterial production, paying attention to the intellectual dimensions and especially the language, affections and relationships drawn as a form of cooperation for the development of plots that show those indispensable items in their construction. The immaterial product becomes a point of view for the reflection of the works listed in this research, mainly because it is configured as another form of work, promoting a cognitive capitalism that also becomes fashionable and valorizes forms of knowledge and ways of life that have been marginalized for a long time time, considering, in that sense, that anyone is a producer of exponential wealth. Our first two chapters are written based on the novel Quarenta dias (2014), in which we observed the performance of the secondary characters sometimes as entrepreneurs of macropolitics, and sometimes as entrepreneurs of micropolitics. In the third chapter, we highlight the immaterial performance of these characters in the tales E se fosse, present in the anthology A face serena (2018) and A obrigação, present in the anthology Vasto Mundo (2015). Studies such as Deleuze and Guattari (1995, 1996), Foucault (2014, 1979), Dalcastagnè (2005, 2012), Bauman (2001), Justino (2014, 2017, 2019), Negri and Lazzarato (2011), among others, substantiate theoretically this work.
