Medicalização e benzodiazepínicos: o olhar do usuário crônico às margens da saúde mental.

The overall objective of the study was to analyze how is the chronic use of benzodiazepines drugs through the user perspective of a Mental Health Service Health Center in the city of Rio de Janeiro - RJ. We took for reference the notion of medicalization and the idea of chronic use of benzodiazepines drugs as a result of the difficulty in handling complaints and subjective symptoms of patients, the existence of chronicle practices in health services, and its popularization in society. It was conducted in field a qualitative research through observation of host groups for benzodiazepine users patients (nine groups) and subsequent individual interviews with some of the group members (six patients) for depletion of relevant topics or issues that have appeared during the prior notice. It was proceeded analyze of data for identifying themes with OpenLogos software. The data point to the existence of a excellent group-tool that acts as "unmedicalized" through the awareness of patients and the improvement of the general conditions. Through the speeches and statements of the participants were observed significant results in progressive decrease in accompanied by psychiatrist consumption, substitution of other more recommended therapeutic classes, such as antidepressants, and encouraging self-care and practice wellness activities. Depending on the iatrogenic power and dependence on these drugs, and because of the actions of Mental Health also concentrate on a highly medicalized traditional logic points to the need for other readings that can contribute to the construction of health policy knowledge for those who are suffering and the banks of the Mental Health network.
