This study dealt with adolescent pregnancy and its impacts on poor women. I have analyzed the life path of six young women aged between19 and 22 years old, who had been mothers during their adolescence and live in a housing complex for low income population in Rio de Janeiro city. The goals of the research were to understand their life paths as poor and young mothers and how social policies have influenced or not in their sexual behavior before their pregnancy during adolescence, their life conditions as poor and young mothers. To achieve the research goals, I have performed a literature review and carried out a survey using in-depth interviews. To develop the analysis, the interview results were structured on categories and subcategories that involved the women s social and familiar context, gender relations and public health, education and social assistance policies and services besides their notion about citizenship. The study revealed the asymmetry in gender roles relating to sexual and reproductive lives and the social exclusion who undergo these young.
