Rather than a simple coincidence, invisibility of lesbians in society, is seen by the lesbian movement, it is a way of maintaining the social norm of heterosexuality. The aim of this work is to describe the trajectory of the Brazilian lesbian movement, from 1979, when it was created in São Paulo, until 2001, when occurred the IV National Lesbian Seminar (SENALE). In this study, we analyzed the demands, specificities, challenges and guidelines of the lesbian movement in Brazil, by investigating the groups and NGOs, as well as the lesbians' relationships both with themselves and with the feminist and LGBT movements. We analyzed the discourses from documentation produced in the period, and we made a historical recovery through oral narratives, in order to trace the trajectory of the lesbian movement in Brazil, which had a essentially feminist character. We also tried to consider the changes in the work of lesbian movement since 1980, when modifications began to occur in the relationship between the state and the social movements, in order to investigate the social transformations that came to be possible or not possible in that context. To develop this study, we interviewed three lesbian activists, who have a relevant work in the history of the Brazilian lesbian and gay political activism. Documents relating to events, newsletters, newspapers and magazines produced by lesbian groups were also analyzed. It is necessary to write about the lesbianism in Brazil, recognizing the resistance and the existence of activists, militants and groups, in order to record the history, so it not forgotten
