Resumo: In 2007, the brazilian federal government applied the More Education Program (MEP), which was an attempt, through integral schooling in integral schedule, to upgrade the education in the country. In order to understand the context in which the program was implemented, we dedicate reading and analyzing models of integral schooling and/or integral schedule practiced before. We also brought the examples of South Korea, Finland, Spain, the USA and China to broaden our knowledge and power of analysis. Afterwards, we shall describe some examples of the implementation of the MEP in some states of Brazil until we meet our cut, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, more precisely in the city of Valença. After a preliminary analysis in all the schools of the city that implemented the MEP, we have decided to cut our study to the district of Conservatória due to being the district with the greatest number of schools that implemented the program and therefore, the greatest number of students. In order to understand such implementation, our field study interviewed 48 people (school managers, teachers, students and their families) in a qualitative analysis, which provided us to see that, despite a short period of time, the exposure of students to the program revealed excellent benefits

Para entendermos o contexto em que tal Programa foi implantado, nos dedicamos à leitura e análise dos modelos de educação integral e/ou em horário integral praticados anteriormente. E também elencamos alguns modelos educacionais no exterior. Trouxemos os exemplos de Coreia do Sul, Finlândia, Espanha, EUA e China para ampliar ainda mais o nosso conhecimento, bem como o nosso poder de análise. A seguir, descrevemos alguns exemplos de implantação do PME em estados do Brasil, até chegarmos ao nosso recorte, no Rio de Janeiro, mais precisamente na cidade de Valença. Depois de uma análise preliminar feita em todas as escolas do município que implantaram o PME, decidimos aprofundar o nosso estudo no Distrito de Conservatória, por ter sido esse o lugar que levou as atividades do Programa ao maior número de escolas e de alunos.
