Resumo: | The construction waste treatment plants (CDW) are installed in at least the large metropolises and the most populous regions of the country. There is a great deal of research validating the replacement of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates in construction works and services. Although the recycled aggregate continues to be produced at CDW processing plants, its acceptance in the market is facing difficulties. The objective of the work was to raise the potential of the production of recycled aggregate, its various forms of use and the difficulties that prevent this product from establishing itself in the market, especially in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. Based on data gathered from COMLURB, ABRECON, SINDUSCON and SECONSERMA, an attempt was made to evaluate CDW management in the city of Rio de Janeiro, facing the challenges of a metropolis and the current legislation. The main result of this study is the quantification of CDW generation, the operational capacity of licensed companies for the disposal and / or processing of recycled aggregates, and the main factors that could reduce the inadequate destination of CDW and increase the use of recycled aggregate in the market of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. |

Há inúmeras pesquisas validando a substituição de agregados naturais por agregados reciclados em obras e serviços da construção civil. Apesar de o agregado reciclado continuar sendo produzido nas usinas de beneficiamento de RCD, a sua aceitação no mercado enfrenta dificuldades. O objetivo do trabalho foi levantar o potencial de produção de agregado reciclado, as suas diversas formas de utilização e as dificuldades que impedem este produto se estabelecer no mercado, em especial no Município do Rio de Janeiro. A partir de dados levantados junto à COMLURB, ABRECON, SINDUSCON e a SECONSERMA, procurou-se avaliar à gestão de RCD no Município do Rio de Janeiro diante dos desafios de uma metrópole e da legislação vigente.
