Resumo: | Based on studies of the sociology of dreams and youth cultures in contemporary times, we have drawn up our central question: can dreams offer elements that allow us to elaborate on the problems and challenges of the biographical trajectory in the transition to adulthood? This approach focuses on the forms of socialization in youth and the role of the dreamer in the appropriation of their dream production. Theoretically, we emphasize the mutual influence between the symbolism of dream life and the forms of socialization in everyday life, with images mediating this relationship (Simmel, 2021; Bastide, 2016). This investigation is guided by the social function of dreams, which is conditioned by the relationship between sleep and the contemporary capitalist productivity model. Daily life and forms of interaction in late capitalism are affected by the project to degrade sleep, which includes the process of accelerating time that aims to erase the dimension of otherness in the relationship between individuals (Crary, 2016). The research aims to explain the relevance of dreams as a source of empirical material that can renew the debate on sociological issues that have been exhaustively studied by the logic of waking life. As far as the empirical research is concerned, we are carrying out a university outreach program with a collective dream sharing group (but we also collect individual dream reports) of public university students from the Social Sciences and Psychology courses. We used the dream collection protocol and the tools for investigating the dream narratives and life histories of the research participants, in accordance with contributions from Lahire (2018; 2021), Bastide (2006; 2016) and Martins (1996). |

We used the dream collection protocol and the tools for investigating the dream narratives and life histories of the research participants, in accordance with contributions from Lahire (2018; 2021), Bastide (2006; 2016) and Martins (1996).A partir dos estudos da sociologia do sonho e das trajetórias juvenis na contemporaneidade, traçamos nossa questão central: os sonhos podem oferecer elementos que permitam elaborar problemas e desafios da trajetória biográfica na transição para a vida adulta?
