Resumo: In order to evaluate the effects of choline supplementation on meat quail feed, it was performed two experiments. At first we were hosted 480 Italian quails of both sexes, 7 days old and weighing 43 ± 0.22g, distributed in a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 5 replicates of 16 birds. In the second, they were housed 540 Italian quails of both sexes, with 1 day old average weight of 8 ± 0.33g, distributed in a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 5 repetitions with 18 birds each. In both experiments, the treatments consisted of the addition of choline chloride in feed levels: 0; 0.025; 0.05; 0.075, 0.1 and 0.125%. The experimental diets were formulated to be iso nutrient except choline levels. At the end of the trial period (42 days), the parameters were evaluated: feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion, carcass yield, breast, thigh and drumstick, proportion of abdominal fat and liver and liver composition (dry matter and ether extract). The data were submitted to regression analysis. In both experiments, there was no significant effect of choline supplementation on the performance variables, carcass characteristics and liver composition. When the amount of choline suplemented the ingredients for 1,546 mg of choline / kg diet, supplementation of this vitamin is not required for quails.
