Resumo: | This study focuses on recognizing and understanding the meanings and representations of various types of silence and social silencing within Brazilian dystopian cinema. To build the path leading to this understanding, it will be necessary to achieve and traverse specific objectives, such as finding the origins of dystopia to understand where, when, how, and why they emerge and what they talk about; finding a definition for silencing that goes beyond the direct and literal act of silencing and is capable of encompassing broad concepts of silencing, close to the idea of sociocultural erasure, exclusion, prohibition, invisibilities, neglect, and voids; understanding how dystopias translate social issues into their fantastical fiction and represent them; comparing Brazilian dystopian films and their respective contexts; and finally, perceiving and analyzing the representations of silence within each work and in relation to one another. In terms of methodology, in addition to a literature review, the idea of film constellations proposed and described by Mariana Souto (2020) will be used, which allows for the creation of more flexible categories of analysis among various films. Additionally, the work also includes the theoretical discussions of Bauman (1999; 2010), Lyotard (2021), Klein (2007), Bentivoglio (2020), Berchez (2021), Orlandi (2007), among others. |
