Resumo: During this research we performed a taxonomic review of brazilianfossil shrimp and their evolutionary characteristics, correlating the specimens in space andgeological time. We report the first occurrence of fossil shrimp in the Ipubi Formation (Lower Cretaceous of the Araripe Basin) and performed the characterizationof this fossil group through measurements by X-ray diffraction, infra-red and Raman and large-field energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) to contribute with paleoecological and digenetic data. We present also new data about Beurlenia araripensis, showing the probable morphological plasticity existing for this genus, for example, the shape of the rostrum, with 5-14 dorsal spines with serrated appearance, as occurs in the current species MacrobrachiumBate (1868)and PalaemonWeber (1795).

Aprimeira ocorrência de camarões fósseis na Formação Ipubi foi apresentada, bem como,a caracterização deste grupo fóssil através de espectroscopia por florescência de raios-X, difração de raios-X, infravermelho, Raman e microscopia eletrônica de varredura(MEV) e energia dispersiva de raio-X (EDS), contribuindocom dados paleoecológicos e diagenéticos.
