In the prenatal attendance, for a good interaction with the pregnant, it is essential that the nurse’s communicativc action is carried out in order to offer an environment of availability and safety. In this study, one intended to understand the nurse’s discoursive practices through the interpretative repertoire manifested during the consultation to the client in the prenatal assistance. To do so, one opted for a research of qualitative nature, having as theoretical- methodological refercnce the Discoursive Practices and Production of Senses in the Everyday Life proposed by Spink. The case study was the design chosen for this research and, as instruments for data collection, one used the free and direct observation and a guide containing relevant topies about the professionaPs attitude to be noted during the nursing consultation. Participated in the study four nurses that carry out consultations to pregnant women registered in the Family Health Program in Timbó Complex and Taíba District - located, respectively, in the cities of Maracanaú and São Gonçalo do Amarante, in the State of Ceará. The nurses’ professional profilc was drawn and the office environment, the strueture and the conditions of the institution where they work were described. According to the results, the nurses’ discoursive practices had characteristics that differentiated them. Their verbal and non-verbal expressions, as well as their interpretative repertoire, were used aiming to offer to the client a welcoming environment and a space available for hearing. It was rewarding to observe that all the nurses showed good will, interest, patience, will to help and educate the client, and that the participation of the family in the consultations was estimulated by them. The expression of feelings on the part of the pregnant woman was casier due to the conversation and attitudes of the nurses. However, the integrated reflection of such feelings was, many times, limited by the technician focus given to the consultation. The persuasive action was commonly used to pass beneficiai ways and behavior to the client. The humanized attendance was present is the nurses’ behavior, since each pregnant was treated in a unique way - observing their necessities of health and care - and recognized as subjects with autonomy and liberty. One considers that the dialogic approach present in the intersubjective process formed in the professional-client meeting is the motor force of these nurses that made efforts to offer more than technical quality, contemplating in a sagacious way the affection and the intuition in the prenatal care. In the nursing area, this study will serve to highlight the communicative processes in attention to health, because to understand someone, one needs to listen to them.
