Resumo: The two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch is one of the major arthropod-pest in the world. It is a cosmopolitan that has been attacking different botanical species, mainly cultivated and ornamental plants. The attack of making a decision on desiccation and leaf fall can lead to a death to the plants. The main method of controlling pressure is chemical control. However, this pest is already resistant to the carriers used in its control. In addition, incorrect use of pesticides in agriculture can cause the elimination of natural waste and pollinators, the development of resistance variables, the accumulation of residues in food for human consumption, contamination of soil, rivers and groundwater. In this way, the biological control was studied and used as an alternative to the chemical control of the mite. The main group of natural enemies of the tow spotted spider mite is the predatory mites of the family Phytoseiidae. Currently, some species of phytotherapies have been commercialized to control the mite in which the field is protected, with Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor, 1954) being one of the main species. The predator presents a proven measure in temperate and semi-thermal environments under the influence of this biological control agent is impossible. Thus, it is necessary that the potential of other phytoseiid species be tested, be especially natural occurring in semi-arid environments. Neoseiulus idaeus Denmark & Muma, 1973, often found in association with tetranychid mites, and widely distributed in countries of the Neotropical region, especially in regions where the semiarid climate prevails.
