Dissertação (Mestrado em Geografia)-Universidade Federal do Ceará, Fortaleza, 2018.The research: Vila do Mar Project in Grande Pirambu: advances and setbacks, aimed to show the contradictions of an urbanization project that has been built since 2006 on the beachfront of a cluster of communities located on the West Coast of the city of Fortaleza - CE , called Grande Pirambu. Precisely covering three districts: Barra do Ceará, Cristo Redentor and Pirambu. It was proposed jointly to carry out an analysis of facts that present themselves in the present, as a result of historical processes occurred in that space, such as: the deterritorializations and reteritorializations suffered by the residents of the area, resulting from actions of the state itself. As a background, we tried to highlight the performance of the social movements formed there since the first decades of the occupation of that space. The Grande Pirambu is one of the largest subnormal clusters in Brazil, IBGE (2010). It originated in 1932 with the installation of a concentration camp (Urubu) and has already been the subject of several studies, but, it continues being much explored for diverse scientific investigations. The importance of this work is to bring to human geography a reflection on the socio-spatial practices carried out in that important territory of the city. The methodology used was based on bibliographical appraisals, documentary exams, interviews and field observations, supported by a geographic perspective. The results of the investigation show a reality determined by many conflicts, past and present, the result of decades of segregation and governmental omission. The research was based on theories that formed the base of support of the concepts worked, and the conclusion obtained is that the state has had greater force in establishing actions in the absence of necessities and in spite of the history of that population.A pesquisa: Projeto Vila do Mar no Grande Pirambu: avanços e retrocessos, teve como objetivo mostrar as contradições de um projeto de urbanização que vem sendo construído desde 2006 na orla praiana de um aglomerado de comunidades localizado na Costa Oeste da cidade de Fortaleza - CE, denominado Grande Pirambu. Precisamente abrangendo três bairros: Barra do Ceará, Cristo Redentor e Pirambu. Propôs-se conjuntamente, realizar uma análise de fatos que se apresentam no presente, como resultado de processos históricos ocorridos naquele espaço, tais como: as desterritorializações e reteritorializações sofridas pelos moradores da área, decorrentes de ações do próprio estado. Como pano de fundo, procurou-se destacar a atuação dos movimentos sociais formados ali desde as primeiras décadas da ocupação daquele espaço. O Grande Pirambu é um dos maiores aglomerados subnormais do Brasil, IBGE (2010). Originou-se em 1932 com a instalação de um campo de concentração (Urubu) e já foi alvo de vários estudos, mas, continua sendo muito explorado para diversas investigações científicas. A importância deste trabalho é trazer para a geografia humana uma reflexão a cerca das práticas socioespaciais realizadas naquele território tão importante da cidade. A metodologia empregada foi alicerçada em apreciações bibliográficas, exames documentais, entrevistas e observações campais, apoiada numa perspectiva geográfica. Os resultados da investigação mostram uma realidade determinada por muitos conflitos, passados e presentes, fruto de décadas de segregação e omissão governamental.
