The main objective of this work is to present the academic and student community with reflections on the teaching of sociology in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) and the proposal of a supplementary booklet for the teaching of the aforementioned modality, entitled: “A sociological adventure for young people and adults (EJA)”. We will present a theoretical discussion on the constitution of Youth and Adult Education over time, its advances and challenges, as well as a presentation on the School Census and the reality of this segment to justify the proposition of the theme, and the Youth and Adult Education Skills Certification Exam (ENCCEJA) as a means of preparation and also the possibility of continuing the educational process. We briefly present the history of sociology in the Brazilian reality, linked to teacher training, and its teaching in the EJA, and methodological possibilities for teaching. We also discuss the National Textbook Program, especially the 2014 PNLD, which offered a set of books by area for the EJA, and the analysis of this material in relation to sociology, which we used as a basis for proposing the booklet that supplements this teaching, addressing four themes: socialization process, social movement, racism, race, ethnicity, and social inequalities in Brazil. We took as our basis the current legislation on the teaching of EJA in Brazil, and authors who discuss the subject, such as: ARROYO (2019), FREIRE (2010) HADDAD; DI PIETRO (2009), PAVEI (2020) e SOUZA (2020).
