The organization of the Matrix Support is complex and requires overcoming several challenges to enforce its implementation. This support contributes to promoting dialogue, exchanging knowledge and experiences among professionals from different areas of health, in order to extend the integrality of care. According to Vygotsky and Paulo Freire, there is an inseparable relationship in human beings between cognition and affectivity. Also between the social and cultural reality of the subject, the development of their consciousness and their construction of meanings about reality. Starting from these authors, it is understood that the formation of personal understanding of professionals about the Matrix Support is also permeated by the size of the objective reality experienced by them in their daily work in health. In this perspective, a construction of the data was performed within the theoretical framework of qualitative research, at three Family Health Centers in different areas of Fortaleza, with the following instruments: semi-structured individual interviews with coordinators, two focus groups with professionals and field notes. For discussion and data analysis we used the technique of content analysis. The survey results were organized from two dimensions of analysis: organization and operation of the Matrix Support in Mental Health at the Health Centers for Family and Senses built on the Matrix Support in Mental Health by practitioners. The first dimension has one category, describe about the organization and operation of Supporting in each Health Centre studied. The second dimension was subdivided into two: one for the senses of Family Health Strategy professionals and another for matrix supporters. Each of these dimensions has been subdivided into categories that emerged based on analysis of the material from focus groups. The results show that Matrix Support in Mental Health with a real involvement of professionals from the Family Health Strategy occurs sporadically at the three areas studied and many challenges must be faced in its implementation. In an area with a lower provision of Mental Health, proportional to its population, there was a greater challenge to achieve this Supporting. Professionals and managers indicated that the permanent education processes contribute to the organization and qualification of the Matrix Support, as well as greater involvement of Primary Care professionals with this support in two health centers. There was a polysemy of meanings built on the Matrix Support by practitioners that translated the potentiality of this support and the challenges to their achievement in Fortaleza. There is a need for a clearer and cohesive positioning of the management about the realization of Matrix Support to the integration of care networks for Mental Health and Primary Care in the city.O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender o Apoio Matricial em Saúde Mental na Estratégia de Saúde da Família a partir do seu funcionamento e dos sentidos construídos sobre este Apoio por apoiadores matriciais, profissionais e gestores de Centros de Saúde da Família. A organização do Apoio Matricial é complexa e exige a superação de vários desafios para efetivar a sua execução. Tal Apoio contribui para favorecer o diálogo e a troca de conhecimentos e experiências entre os profissionais de diferentes áreas da saúde, a fim de ampliar a integralidade da atenção. Segundo Vygotsky e Paulo Freire, há uma relação indissociável no ser humano entre cognição e afetividade. Assim como também entre a realidade social e cultural do sujeito, o desenvolvimento da sua consciência e a sua construção de sentidos sobre a realidade. Partindo desses autores, entende-se que a formação da compreensão pessoal dos profissionais sobre o Apoio Matricial está permeada também pela dimensão da realidade objetiva vivenciada por eles no cotidiano do trabalho em saúde. Nessa perspectiva, a construção dos dados foi realizada dentro do referencial teórico da pesquisa qualitativa, em três Centros de Saúde da Família de diferentes Regionais de Fortaleza, através dos seguintes instrumentos: entrevista individual semi-estruturada com coordenadores; dois grupos focais com profissionais; e anotações de campo. Para a discussão e análise dos dados foi utilizada a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da pesquisa foram organizados a partir de duas dimensões de análise: Organização e funcionamento do Apoio Matricial em Saúde Mental nos Centros de Saúde da Família e Sentidos construídos sobre o Apoio Matricial em Saúde Mental pelos profissionais. A primeira dimensão possui uma categoria, que descreve sobre a organização e o funcionamento do Apoio em cada Centro de Saúde estudado. Já a segunda dimensão foi subdividida em duas: uma para os sentidos dos profissionais da Estratégia de Saúde da Família e outra para os dos apoiadores matriciais. Cada uma dessas dimensões foi subdividida em categorias que surgiram a partir da análise do material dos grupos focais. Os resultados mostram que Apoio Matricial em Saúde Mental com um real envolvimento dos profissionais da Estratégia de Saúde da Família acontece de forma esporádica nas três Regionais estudadas e muitos desafios precisam ser enfrentados para sua realização. Na Regional com menor oferta de serviços de Saúde Mental, proporcional a sua população, verificou-se um desafio maior para a realização desse Apoio. Os profissionais e gestores apontaram que os processos de educação permanente contribuem para a organização e qualificação do Apoio Matricial, bem como para um maior envolvimento dos profissionais da Atenção Primária nesse Apoio em dois Centros de Saúde estudados. Houve uma polissemia de sentidos construídos sobre o Apoio Matricial pelos profissionais que traduziu tanto a potencialidade desse Apoio, como os desafios para a sua realização em Fortaleza.
