This research has as object of analysis the trajectory of the Union of Workers of the Construction Industry of Fortaleza (STICCF) during the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003 to 2010). It seeks to investigate its educational political praxis in the context of regressive changes in the world of work and the rise of a former worker leader to the Presidency of the Republic. In a moment of intense debate about the situation of workers, their dynamics of organization and impacts on their forms of representation, the class had before them the challenge of the historical experience of having "one of their" ruling the country. In general terms, how trade unionism behaved in the face of this experience and in particular how STICCF acted is our horizon of research. To think about these issues, we decided to go back to the basics and revisit some of the debates on syndicalism around the notion of political, economic and ideological struggle by the classics of Marxism, and adopting the category of praxis as a category of analysis and postulate central political, we have shed light on the specific study of the political-syndical praxis of STICCF in times of Lula's government. The theoretical-methodological referential is a view of reality and history as a social production of human existence.
