It also tries to find out the rural teacher's social meaning in the rural workers' process of organization. Throughout this work we tried to keep a critical analysis of the rural teacher's social praxis in the productive and political dimensions and hold as main purpose the identification of the political project that the rural teacher has come to trace day after day taking account of his real living and working conditions, the way in which this rural teacher acts·toward rural workers in defending their political motion as regarding the rural teacher's several activies (i.e., he is a rural worker himself therefore he faces multiple relations of economic and political dependence submission and opression) and also his performance toward the rural population favoring the workers' class organization and helping with these workers' process of transformation. Considering that the rural teacher's social praxis happens within a contradictory reality, we chose some basic concepts of the historical and dialectical materialism that helped explain reality from its contradictions. The work concludes that the rural teacher plays an important role in the rural workers' organization because he actually defends the rural workers' political project as a result of his easier forms of contact with them, the confidence the rural population have in his knowledge, the greater possibility of access to this knowledge, his function of educating the rural children so that they grow up to be real citizens and, last but not least for his being essentially rural.Este estudo procura analisar a práxis social do professor rural - PR - no sentido de compreender o seu papel de agente político junto ao campesinato e saber qual o seu significado social no processo de organização dos camponeses. Ao longo deste trabalho, procura-se analisar criticamente a práxis social do PR nas dimensões produtiva e política, tendo, como eixo das preocupações, identificar: o projeto político que o PR vem defendendo no seu dia-a-dia (levando-se em consideração suas reaii condições de vida e de trabalho); a forma de atuação, junto ao camponês, do PR que defende a proposta política da classe trabalhadora (levando-se em consideração suas diversas atividades: camponês e professor/camponês e as múltiplas relações de dependência econômica e política, submissão e opressão); sua atuação junto à população rural, no sentido de favorecer a organização da classe trabalhadora do campo, ajudando o camponês na compreensão de sua realidade e na participação no processo de transformação social. Considerando que a práxis social do PR se dá em uma realidade contraditória, escolheram-se, para análise dos fenômenos estudados nesta realidade, alguns conceitos básicos do materialismo histórico e dialético que ajudam a explicar o real a partir de suas contradições.
