O Programa Professor Diretor de Turma a partir do ponto de vista dos alunos de uma escola pública em Fortaleza

Since 2008, the State Government of Ceará adopted the “Projeto Professor Diretor de Turma” (Class Director Teacher Project) as a policy to be implemented in technical schools and soon after in all full-time schools, using the experience of public schools in Portugal as a reference. With a proposal for the demassification of education and a focus on the socio-emotional issues of the students, teachers were selected to serve as directors of a specific class, thus becoming mediators of conflicts, mediators between other teachers, the school community, and families. The result was a decrease in dropout rates and school abandonment and an increase in approval rates. These results, presented as positive, fueled my curiosity to conduct research from the students' perspective on how they perceive and receive the Program and the Class Director Teacher. In this work, we will address a bit of the emergence of the Program and, through a case study, taking the EEMTI Prof. Cel. José Aurélio Câmara as a reference, present the way the school has developed its actions, its results, analyze, based on a quantitative survey conducted with the students and the cross-referencing of the response data, the program and the class director teacher, how they view this relationship with their Class Director Teacher, how they perceive the way issues of violence are addressed, and the search for solutions such as policies to combat racism, homophobia, physical violence, and strategies to bring the school closer to families.
