Resumo: This dissertation aims to analyze the practice of tribalism in Guinea-Bissau. It is an ethnography that explores the various aspects of tribalism that marked Guinean daily life as well as politics. Through Guinean social and ethnic relations, the taboo of tribalism and its visibilities and consequences in electoral periods are explored. In general, it explores some events that marked the 2019-2020 election such as hatred, violence, division, accusations between militants and politicians. Thus, it explores the discourse of living school versus school ika nada and viva Portuguese language versus living Creole language. And, finally, it analyzes the uses of ethnic-religious visual symbols by candidates as an easy phenomenon to be recognized on ballot papers by the electorate, drawing attention to their ethnic and religious group.

Trata-se de uma etnografia que explora os diversos aspectos do tribalismo que marcaram o cotidiano guineense assim como também na política. Através das relações sociais e étnicas guineenses, explora-se o tabu do tribalismo e suas visibilidades e consequências nos períodos eleitorais. De modo geral, explora alguns acontecimentos que marcaram a eleição de 2019-2020 como ódio, violência, divisão, acusações entre os militantes e políticos. Assim, explora o discurso de viva escola versus escola ika nada e viva língua portuguesa versus viva língua crioula. E, por último, analisa os usos dos símbolos visuais étnico-religiosos pelos candidatos como fenômeno fácil de reconhecimento nos boletins de votos pelo eleitorado, chamando atenção ao seu grupo étnico e religioso.Cette thèse vise à analyser la pratique du tribalisme en Guinée-Bissau. C'est une ethnographie qui explore les différents aspects du tribalisme qui ont marqué la vie quotidienne des Guinéens ainsi que la politique. A travers les relations sociales et ethniques guinéennes, le tabou du tribalisme et ses visibilités et conséquences en période électorale sont explorés. De manière générale, il explore certains événements qui ont marqué l'élection 2019-2020 tels que la haine, la violence, la division, les accusations entre militants et politiciens. Ainsi, il explore le discours de l'école vivante contre l'école ika nada et de la langue portugaise viva contre la langue créole vivante.
