Resumo: | With a historical contextualization that dates back to Ancient Egypt—where the benefits of reading were already recognized—and considering its consolidation as a therapeutic practice in the early 20th century under the name "bibliotherapy," it can be said that this practice uses reading, in its broadest possibilities, to promote health and well-being (socioemotional benefits). Thus, bibliotherapy plays a transformative role in the personal and professional lives of those who mediate it and/or those who participate in its sessions. Given this relevance, the dissertation investigates the practice of bibliotherapy in Brazil, focusing on the trajectories of professionals involved in this field. The study is motivated by the scarcity of systematized records on these journeys and by the desire to contribute to the construction of the group's social memory. The research was guided by the following question: What narratives are presented by professionals who work with bibliotherapy across Brazil, in a way that reveals the current landscape of the practice and contributes to the construction of the group's social memory? The objectives are divided into a general objective—to investigate the practice of bibliotherapy in Brazil based on the narratives of professionals active in the field—and specific objectives, which aim to: discuss the theoretical and conceptual aspects of bibliotherapy and memory; characterize the current landscape of bibliotherapy through the profile of professionals who work with the practice in Brazil; and identify and highlight the trajectories of librarians who work with bibliotherapy, creating an audiovisual collection on the website of the Museu da Pessoa (Museum of the Person). The methodology consists of a qualitative-quantitative approach, with data collection carried out in two phases: an online questionnaire distributed to professionals working with bibliotherapy using the "snowball" method, followed by Oral History interviews with pioneering librarians in the field, to compose the collection "Memory of Bibliotherapy in Brazil," hosted on the Museu da Pessoa website, which serves as the final product of this work. It is worth noting that the theoretical framework includes concepts of memory, information, and bibliotherapy, as well as related topics. As a result, 90 participants were involved in the first phase of data collection and six were interviewed in the second phase. The analysis expanded the understanding of bibliotherapy as an inter- and multidisciplinary field of practice. Additionally, it revealed motivations, challenges, academic contributions, and other nuances that should be considered to strengthen the practice and envision its future. It is hoped that this study will contribute to the sharing of memories, inspire further research, encourage greater attention to mediators, and support the strengthening of bibliotherapy practices. |
