Resumo: The aim of this paper is the study of paraphrase and parody under the study view of referencing, that is to say, such discourse activities based on the reconstruction of the real view and promoters of textual progression. In order that application for theories, we selected chronicles of Arnaldo Jabor and Millôr Fernandes which were under qualitative analysis where it was observed that, besides the occurrence of discourse activities of paraphrase and parody, other mechanisms of referencing such as nominalizations, lexical repetitions, (re)categorization and the use of expressions such as well as these resources enrich the disourse project and promote the referential progression of the text. In order to succeed in this paper, the proposed references of Mondada & Dubois, Apothéloz & Béguelin, Koch and Marcuschi were extremely crucial.

Para aplicação das teorias, foram selecionadas crônicas de Arnaldo Jabor e Millôr Fernandes, das quais foi realizada análise qualitativa, em que se verificou, além da ocorrência das atividades discursivas de paráfrase e paródia, outros mecanismos de referenciação como nominalizações, repetições lexicais, recategorização e uso de expressões lexicalizadas, e como tais recursos enriquecem o projeto discursivo e também promovem a progressão textual.
