The theme of the research is about the political-partisan involvement of leaders of the Movement of Peasant Women (MPW), in the western region of Santa Catarina, Brazil, in the period of 1983, when the movement emerged, until 2003, when the Workers Party (PT) assumes the institutional power of the Brazilian State and new Government project resizes social movements. The work was strengthened by the Political Opportunity Theory (POT), idealized by Sidney Tarrow, and presents a brief summary on the history of social movements, especially peasants. It goes on to show the trajectory of women, highlighting the struggle for political rights and the development of militant peasant women in the MPW with party politics. Finally, it evaluates the experiences and the results achieved in this involvement, through the analysis of the discourses that considered the answers provided by the interviewees, the personal experience of the researcher and the theoretical foundation. In this sense, the study was based on three sources with documentary, bibliographic and oral character. The oral sources were based on fourteen interviews - geographically representing ten municipalities of the West - semi-structured and of qualitative character. Therefore, the dissertation also became a tool to disseminate the historical experience of the MPW, built during the thirty-five years of struggle, with emphasis on the political field, so little mentioned in academic productions and the movement itself.
