Resumo: This research seeks to investigate aspects of the identity’s constitution of the Haitian immigrants living in Chapecó/SC that study in the Federal University of the Southern Frontier (UFFS), that allow us to understand how the relation between languages and cultures produces effects of identifications of the subject. Considering that in the theoretical perspective of Discourse Analysis (AD), adopted here, the subject is constituted in/by language, we seek to identify in their narratives - in the discourse of self - marks, discursive scars produced by the relation between languages and cultures, between mother tongue and foreign language, and how these marks work in the identity's constitution of these Immigrants. Based on the assumption that any linguistic relationship is an inter-language relationship, we hypothesize that Haitian immigrants live the conflict and tension between mother tongue and foreign languages, provoking effects of resistance, interdiction and silencing before the language of the other. Our research is based on the theoretical assumptions of the AD of French line and we anchor ourselves in founding works of Michel Pêcheux, Maria Jose Coracini, Eni Orlandi, Jacques Derrida, which deal with the relation between language and subject. We work with notions of language, problematizing maternal and foreign language(s), discourse, subject, identity's constitution and subjectivity. We emphasize that, due to AD bias, the language is seen as nontransparent, heterogeneous, subject to failure and misunderstanding, and it is through the discourse that it materializes itself. The methodology adopted was the realization of semi-structured interviews, making it possible to resume the speech of the interviewee, since we consider that it is through the language in use that the senses are produced, that the facts are open to interpretations and that the subject subscribes itself to the world. After the transcription of the interviews, through the materiality of the language and the gesture of interpretation, it was possible to observe aspects of the identity constitution and discuss them according to the theoretical-analytical devices of AD. Through a great discursive mark, the vacillating enunciation, characterized by present discourse in the discourse, it was possible to find traces, marks of resistance, interdiction and silencing of the Haitian immigrants in front of the Portuguese language, the language of the other, thus sustaining our hypothesis.
