This thesis, entitled: Violent criminality in contemporary Mozambique: an approach to violence and criminality using white weapon in the Nampula, Pemba and Lichinga towns, northern Mozambique (2005-2015), is part of the field of sociology of crime and/or violence and aim to reflect on the determinants of violence and criminality with the use of a white weapon in the main urban centers of Mozambique, particularly in Nampula, Pemba and Lichinga towns. At the methodological level, the research focused on a qualitative approach. As a theoretical framework, I elected the theories of violence and / or criminality. In order to discern theoretically and empirically determinants of urban violent crime, related to white weapon component, I have incorporated both the specialized literature of different authors of the sociology of crime and / or violence, as well as interviews with police officers and the prison population and I also inquired the citizens, in general. Likewise, I explored criminal cases in court and medical reports from local hospitals (Nampula, Pemba and Lichinga towns). In addition to this theoretical and methodological framework, I question: what are the factors that contribute to the increase in the practice of violence and criminality using weapon in the urban centers of Mozambique, particularly in the towns of Nampula, Pemba and Lichinga? Regarding this questioning, the research found that the practice of violent crime is the result of the conjugation of several internal factors (biopsychological factors) and external factors (sociological factors - factors linked to the social environment) to individuals.
