Resumo: This thesis contains a reading about the socio-spatial formation process of the city of Fortaleza in its entirety. For her, a methodology inspired by the foundations of dialectical materialism was produced. Thus the city was "read", seeking to seize the experience of Fortaleza as a unique, inseparable and contradictory movement of expansion, degeneration and socio-spatial transition. Through the technique of 'Table of Successions and Coexistences', we were able to identify the moments of the formation of the area today referring to the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza. There are 6 periods in the cut that goes from before the arrival of the European element to the present day. With respect to the emergence of urban space, the first part of the thesis covers the time of the formation of the city of capital (in overcoming the old city), until the formation of the dystopian metropolis. In the second part, a reflection on territorial conflicts was made and two of the four main conflicts that took place in Fortaleza at the beginning of the XXI century were discussed: i) the attempt to build a naval industry in Praia do Titanzinho and ii) construction of the Ceará Aquarium near Poço da Draga. The objective of this study was to identify the elements of the so - called transitional spaces or transition spaces in the socio - spatial formation of Fortaleza in the 21st century. In order to do so, we sought to answer the following question: what elements present in the capitalist production of the space of a metropolis such as Fortaleza point to the overcoming of the capitalist production of space itself? Fortaleza, as an urban-metropolitan nucleus, presents particularities in the production of the space in relation to the other municipalities, such particularities were identified through the study of territorial conflicts. Biographical survey, clipping, interviews and cartography were some of the research techniques used in the chapters on territorial conflicts. Finally, four (4) elements of the transitory space are identified in the events investigated: i) Political awareness and collective action; ii) Organic density of the territory; (iii) Metamorphosis of technical means; iv) Presence of instruments for the democratization of public management.

Submitted by Liliane Ferreira (ljuvencia30@gmail.com) on 2018-12-17T13:38:35Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - André Lima Sousa - 2018.pdf: 7265379 bytes, checksum: 2c90331ecbd1c99c7c1e2896d61ed90d (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Luciana Ferreira (lucgeral@gmail.com) on 2018-12-21T09:54:57Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - André Lima Sousa - 2018.pdf: 7265379 bytes, checksum: 2c90331ecbd1c99c7c1e2896d61ed90d (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2018-12-21T09:54:57Z (GMT).
