This research aims to analyze the environmental degradation of pastures in Porangatu city. Relating to the knowledge of the reality of the country on the productive dynamics of livestock, it exhibits spatial transformations resulting from productive structuring performed on forms of use and occupation of land. It proposes also examines how evolved the degradation of rangelands in Porangatu city, focusing on the period 1983-2013. To reach the target search, come the following ways: literature research for identifying, locating, compiling theoretical information; agglutination of data and information from IBGE, INCRA, SGEI for collection and analysis of physical and social environmental characteristics, description of the main soil types found in the region, correlating the tables and the graphs with quantitative representations in Brazil and Porangatu context. The dynamics of the use of land was analyzed from images of spatial resolution of 30 meters, at point-orbits in 222/69 and 222/70 dated 17.02.2013 which cover the study area; for this, the tessellation process using software Processing Images Envi 4.7 was performed. Also this software the procedure of atmospheric correction of the images was performed, the transformation of digital numbers in appearance values with the maximum verisimilitude classifier (MaxVer) led to more accurate ranking with satisfactory distinction between the levels of pasture degradation. The identification of degradation levels was based on the vigor of the grass; the appearance of uncovered areas; weeds emergence and erosion occurrence. For the validation of information, was conducted fieldwork with collecting GPS points, and even interviews with landowners about ways to manage the property taken during the research analysis. Cartographic products spatialize areas of expansion permit to analyze the transformations that make up the dynamics of the production process, and the refunctionalisation of areas that until then come to stagnancy in agricultural use, in other words, it has already quite degraded by increased use and without proper management. It becomes necessary the restructuring challenge of the productive system through the equity incentive. Thus the existence of favorable natural aspects to the expansion of agriculture reaches to goiano north as new trends, where soy is facing this new expansion model.
