This research aims to analyze the specificities of Brazilian Deaf Culture, based on the reflections present in the audiovisual “Crisálida,” mediated by the cinema and education interface. To this end, Brazilian Deaf Culture was characterized, based on socio-educational elements (family, school and society), present in the representations of the audiovisual “Crisálida.” Next, the relationship between Culture and the elements that influence the representation of the Deaf is identified. Furthermore, aspects of Brazilian Deaf Culture present in the aforementioned audiovisual are discussed, based on the concepts of Pierre Bourdieu and Rosália Duarte, mediated by the interface between cinema and education. Methodologically, the research is located in the field of Sociology of Education, using film analysis as a mechanism for interpreting society. Through exploratory research, from a qualitative approach, this study will be specifically focused on the analysis of representations. The research is also characterized as bibliographical and documentary. As a result, we highlight the development of the proposal for the Educational Product, “Cinema Education Training – Opening the Eye to Deaf Culture,” for training teachers in raising awareness of deaf culture, based on the audiovisual Crisálida.
