Resumo: Eucalyptus plantations are important to supply the demand of wood in several economic segments, besides reducing wood cut in the remaining natural forests. However, the implantation and maintenance of those forests can contribute for the loss of the local biodiversity. Thus, this work aims to evaluate the diversity of the litter ants in eucalyptus plantations, in the region of Atlantic rainforest in Minas Gerais and verify the possible effect of the application of formicides baits and/or herbicides in this culture over the ant community composition and guilds in the time. Stands of eucalyptus were selected with at least one year without application of herbicides and/or formicides. Ants were collected before seven days and seven, 60, 180 and 360 days after the application of the products, according to Winkler method. The material was selected mounted and identified. It was collected a total of 134 species. The composition of the Formicidae fauna and the species richness inside the guilds varied along the time, but were not affected by the products, in the concentrations and intervals of application used.

Entretanto, a implantação e a manutenção dessa cultura podem contribuir para a perda da biodiversidade local. Sendo assim, os objetivos deste estudo foram: fazer o levantamento das espécies de formigas de serapilheira numa área cultivada com eucalipto, na região da Mata Atlântica de Minas Gerais; e verificar os possíveis efeitos da aplicação manual de isca formicida e/ou de herbicida, da variação no tempo e/ou da interação desses fatores sobre a composição da comunidade e sobre as guildas dessas formigas em plantações de eucalipto. Foram selecionados talhões de eucalipto com pelo menos um ano sem aplicação de formicida e/ou herbicida. Nesses talhões foi feita uma coleta da mirmecofauna aos sete dias antes e sete, 60, 180 e 360 dias após a aplicação dos produtos, seguindo a metodologia de extração de Winkler, sendo o material posteriormente triado, montado e identificado. Foi coletado um total de 134 espécies.
