Resumo: Plectranthus neochilus Schlechter species is a herbaceous, perennial, branched, aromatic plant, also known as small "boldo", aromatic "boldo". It got small leaves almost triangular compactedly arranged not too bitter and with strong smell and inflorescence type racemose with violet color. Its leaves are used for hepatic insufficiency and stomach aches. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the biomass production, essential oil yield and composition and also anatomical changes of the species in function of light (intensity and quality), organic manure (types and doses) and plant age. In the experiment plants age evaluation and culture conditions the essential oil contents of "boldo" was influenced by the plant development stage. The chemical composition of essential oil was affected by the culture environment. The organic manure tested promoted differences related to biomass production, biomass distribution, yield and composition essential oil but did not modify the oil content. Organic manure contents altered biomass production and essential oil yield, but do not alter the oil content. The plants growth, development and volatile oil yield was influenced by the blue light. Plectranthus neochilus plants showed high phenotypical plasticity related to foliar anatomy under the cultured conditions used. Essential oil content was higher on the places that provide shading. Essential oil chemical composition changed in the function of light supplying.

Essential oil chemical composition changed in the function of light supplying.A espécie Plectranthus neochilus Schlechter é uma planta herbácea, perene, ramificada, muito aromática, conhecida também como boldo pequeno, boldo cheiroso, boldo rasteiro ou boldo gambá. Possui folhas pequenas quase triangulares, dispostas compactamente, pouco amargas, de odor forte e inflorescência racemosa de coloração violeta. Suas folhas são utilizadas para o tratamento de insuficiência hepática, dispepsia e dores no estômago. O objetivo na presente pesquisa foi avaliar a produção de biomassa e óleo essencial e as alterações anatômicas foliares da espécie em função da luz (intensidade e qualidade), adubação orgânica (tipos e níveis de adubos) e idade da planta. No experimento de avaliação de idades da planta e condições de cultivo, o teor de óleo essencial de boldo rasteiro foi influenciado pelo estádio de desenvolvimento da planta. A composição química do óleo volátil foi afetada pelo ambiente de cultivo em que as plantas se encontravam. As fontes de adubo orgânico testadas promoveram diferenças em relação à produção de biomassa, distribuição dos fotoassimilados, rendimento e composição do óleo essencial, mas não modificou o teor de óleo. Os níveis de adubo orgânico alteraram a produção de biomassa e o rendimento do óleo essencial, não modificando o teor do óleo. O crescimento, desenvolvimento e rendimento de óleo volátil das plantas foi influenciado pela luz azul. O sombreamento favoreceu a produção de óleo essencial e é mais proeminente sob luz azul. As plantas de P. neochilus apresentaram alta plasticidade fenotípica quanto à anatomia foliar sob as condições de cultivo utilizadas. O teor de óleo essencial foi maior nos ambientes que promoveram sombreamento.
