The rapid water loss from corn grains is desirable because it reduces the need of artificial drying after harvest and avoids the infestation of insect-pests and diseases in the field. This work was carried out with the objective to evaluate the relationship between of water loss from corn grains, grain productivity and cycle of corn hybrids, evaluated by the sum of degree-days and by the number of days until flowering, in two sites and two sowing times. Four experiments under no-tillage in Lavras and Ingaí cities, Minas Gerais State, were installed in the first fortnight of November and December of 2008. In all experiments, the following doses of fertilizers were applied: (400 kg ha-1 08-28-16 + 0.5% Zn at planting + 350 kg ha-1 20-00-20 at sidedressing). In each experiment, the treatments followed a randomized block design with three replicates, evaluating fourteen corn hybrids. For grain productivity, sum of degree-days and number of days until flowering- was realized individual variance analysis for each experiment and, 9999after that, the whole variance analysis, taking into account the four experiments. For the grain water content the single analysis of variance was performed for each site and sowing time. For this variable were realized regression analyses, Spearman´s rank correlation analyses and Pearson´s correlation analyses. The results obtained allowed to conclude that: there is no relationship between grain water loss during maturation process with grain productivity and with the cycle of the corn hybrids; there is a relationship between flowering and the sum of degree-days of the hybrids; the hybrids´ cycle ranges with both the sowing time and site.
