Within the context of scientific research as a specific social field, in which there are values, objects and specifics interests, it is considered that the collaboration between researchers will be stimulated within the dynamic of submission of projects. In this context, this study was carried out with the objective of understand what are the capitals at stake in building of research projects teams submitted to FAPEMIG in 2009 by teachers of Universidade Federal of Lavras - MG, that also influence possible strategies undertaken by agents within a dynamic of competition for approval of research projects. Specifically, the objective was to understand, by the types of capital proposed by Pierre Bourdieu (economic, cultural, social and symbolic), which are those valued within the scientific field for the choices and strategies of the agents. It was used the field theory of Bourdieu, together with the notions of habitus, capital and scientific field. Through documentary research, interviews and content analysis, it was verified that what motivates the choice of research partners is the researchers´ interest on economic capital and cultural capital, and in minor importance compared to these two capitals, social capital was also valued in partnerships formation. Thus, it appears that the possession of such capitals can influence the positioning of researchers within a space of symbolic distinctions. Also, interest in these capitals relates particularly to the teachers´ knowledge about the laws of field in which they are embedded. Finally, it recognizes a dynamic that exists between the field structure, represented by the rules and pressures on researchers, and the agency, which is present in the wishes and individual satisfactions that these teachers expressed, which become subjective aspects of their social practice.
