Resumo: The purpose of this work was to evaluate the organic manure influency, seasonal variation, harvest period of time and post-harvesting process in essential oil content of Aloysia triphylla (L´Hérit) Britton (lemon verbena) in Lavras, MG. In all the experiments was used randomized complete design. Plants developed in field were under seasonal variation harvest period of time and post-harvesting process for essential oil extraction from leaves. Seasonal variation was evaluated every two months intervals (april/04, june/04, august/04, october/04, december/04 and february/05) and it was used five replications with 12 plants per plot. The harvested material was collected at 8:00, 12:00 and 16:00 pm, and it was taken three times after 375 days planting. At 192 days later, five treatments, with three replications were used as post-harvest processing: 1 cm fresh leaves fragments, blended fresh leaves, whole fresh leaves, whole dry leaves and dry leaves ground in mill. Organic manure experiment was made in green house and was used five cattle tanned manure: 0, 3, 6, 9 e 12 kg/m2 with four pots per replication. After 198 days of culture, were evaluate the following variables: dry biomass from aerial parts, roots, branches, leaves and essential oil content. The oil extraction was done by Clevenger´s modified apparatus. The month that showed lower essential oil content which must be due to the stressful climatic conditions. In april, was observed higher essential oil content, due to the climate conditions not too hot and not too cold and also the lower physiological age genetically active. October and february with the second mean, was obtained high biomass yield, and therefore, higher essential oil yield in area. The period of the day that detected high oil content was at 8:00 a.m. and 16:00 p.m. that could be due to lower temperature during those periods of time. There were no statistical difference between 1 cm fresh leaves fragments, blender processed fresh leaves, whole fresh leaves and whole dry leaves. The highest biomass gave by plants treated with 12 kg/m2, and point for oil yield was gave by A. triphylla treated with 9 kg cattle manure/m2 of soil.
