The knowledge of reproductive characteristics, both physiological, behavioral, as well as the influence that exogenous factors have on the reproductive cycles of certain species of fish in captivity possible, identify needs for changes in farming techniques already established. Thus, the objective of this study was to know the behavioral characteristics and the influence of abiotic factors of the period of reproduction in captivity of the will Hoplias intermedius. The experiments were performed on fish of Furnas Hydroelectric Power Plant. For the evaluation of egg masses were observed reproductive periods August 2008 to January 2010. The spawning occurred in nurseries of 200 m² with brick walls and clay floors, which, next to the side walls are cement walkways, and near the water outlet, built in concrete, with collection boxes. The results of this study indicate that the players choose to H. intermedius the locations within the breeding ponds for nesting, cemented preferred areas than the areas of land. It was observed that there are a greater number of nests in the spring of H. intermedius, confirming the analysis of the influence of temperature on the frequency of the number of egg masses, with the highest number in temperatures of 27 ° and 28.1 °C, just occurred in the spring season which was also obtained a larger number of eggs per clutch. In the research on the influence of rainfall on the natural reproduction of H. intermedius, found a negative relationship between the number of egg masses and precipitation. This means that when precipitation increases the number of nests decreases by about 20%. It is concluded that H. intermedius reproduce preferably in the spring and cemented areas.
