Resumo: To meet the demand for technologies that improve the profitability of livestock, companies that operate in the sector had to invest in new alternative and techniques in the segment, mainly in the recovery of large areas of degraded pastures. Seed coating is one of the promising treatment techniques to facilitate the mechanization of sowing and allow the incorporation of nutrients, growth regulators and other agrochemicals. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the coating in combination with mechanical scarification and chemical treatment on the physiological and sanitary quality of seeds, as well as evaluating the performance of these during storage. Seeds of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu provided by WolfSeeds, where a lot was mechanically scarified and the other without scarification. Part of seeds from each batch was coated (pelleted) in a suitable mixer, using fourteen types of finish: sand + PVA; sand + Lanxess polymer ®; limestone + PVA; limestone + Lanxess polymer ®; bentonite + sand (3:1) + PVA; bentonite + sand (3:1) + Lanxess polymer ®; limestone + bentonite (3:1) + PVA; limestone + bentonite (3:1) + Lanxess polymer ®; limestone + sand (2:1) + PVA ; limestone + sand (2:1) + Lanxess polymer®; sand + calcium silicate (3:1) + PVA; sand + calcium silicate (3:1) + Lanxess polymer®; limestone + calcium silicate (3: 1) + PVA; lime + calcium silicate (3:1) + Lanxess polymer® and used as control uncoated seeds. Was also evaluated the combination of these treatments with fungicide and insecticide treatments in seeds. In the second trial were not scarified seeds stored under uncontrolled conditions and the physiological and sanitary were assessed at 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of storage. It was concluded that for the coating experiment, mechanical scarification and chemical treatment in the best performance in the physiological quality is observed in seeds coated with Sand + PVA or polymer, Sand + CaSiO3 + PVA or polymer and Limestone + CaSiO3 + PVA or polymer, treated chemically, with or without scarification. The chemical treatment with fungicide Derosal Plus and insecticide Standak and mechanical scarification is effective in controlling fungi and promote better physiological performance of the seeds of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. The seeds seed with bentonite and/or Limestone negatively affects quality of the seeds of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. The material Betonite doesn´t provide good finishing seeds. The seeds coating reduces speed of germination and seedling emergence of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. Scarification and / or chemical treatment reduces the incidence of fungi present in seeds, improving sanitary quality. For the test with coating, chemical treatment and storage was concluded that seeds coated with Sand + PVA and Sand + CaSiO3 + PVA or polymer, chemically treated, maintain physiological quality over the 12 months of storage; chemical treatment with fungicide Derosal Plus and insecticide Standak in pelleted or not, is effective against fungi and promotes better physiological performance during the storage; the coating with bentonite and / or Limestone negatively affects quality of the seeds of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu during the period of 12 months of storage, the seeds coating decreases the speed of germination and emergence of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu.

Marandu during the period of 12 months of storage, the seeds coating decreases the speed of germination and emergence of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu.
