The present study deals with journalistic news as a discursive phenomenon in the literacy process in elementary education in the final years of a public school in Alto Alegre do Maranhão, with the main objective of showing the usefulness and importance of the journalistic genre in the school sphere as an instance that promotes literacy, as well as the importance of applying this genre in the didactic sequence. Our research questions focus on the following questions, how to provide interaction actions within the classroom, starting from working with the news? How will Sociodiscursive Interactionism impact the literacy process of students in the 6th year of elementary school? This study is anchored in Bakhtin (2023), Marcuschi (2016), Bezerra (2017), Koch (2011), Bronckart (2014), Dolz, Noverraz, Schneuwly (2011), Soares (2014), National Curriculum Parameters of the Portuguese Language (1998; 2011) and National Common Curriculum Base (2018). It is a qualitative action research and through it was possible to perceive how much is said about discursive/textual genres and little is experienced this dynamic inside the classroom and, consequently, in the school as a systematizing instance of teaching. The analysis of the corpus of this study started from the initial production and the final production of each student, using the table of deductions as a standard for a better understanding of the weaknesses presented in both productions, given that it is a group of students coming from a pandemic period, where most were unable to complete the literacy cycle. Therefore, the news worked on in this framework were taken from digital media, supported by web pages and blogs.
