Resumo: Study about the relationship of direction and domination in the state of Maranhao from theoretical precepts of Antonio Gramsci and intellectuals of the School of Frankfurt with emphasis on the analysis of the performance of political parties and, especially, the media. A comparison of thoughts of the authors listed is made from what is common between them. The formation of an oligarchy in Maranhão and its performance is historically analysed. The perception of Brazilian society on the media and political parties is showed and their insertions in the regional scenario and also with reference Brazilian intellectuals and other theoretical communication are analysed. The participation and influence of the state in the formation of communication and local business scenario and their political effects are studied and the aspects common to Gramsci and Frankfurtianos on issues raised at the regional scope are indicated.

Faz-se uma comparação dos pensamentos dos autores indicados e parte-se daquilo que é julgado comum entre eles. Analisa-se historicamente a constituição de uma oligarquia no Maranhão e a sua atuação. Expõe-se a percepção da sociedade brasileira sobre os meios de comunicação e partidos políticos e analisam-se as suas inserções no cenário regional tendo com referência também intelectuais brasileiros e outros teóricos da comunicação.
