ABSTRACT The hate speech on social media. The end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st have been characterized by a collection of political, economical and ideological transformations that aim at the construction of a new society, ruled by different elements from those that had been hegemonically dominants until the 1960 and 1970 decades. New social individuals, new production system, political methods, types of society, production organization and forms of collective political actions were anchored according with the advance, progress or scientifical and technological development. Thus, this dissertation intends to analyze the hate speech on social behavior that is presented on posts and discussions on Facebook media during the political period that comprehends the year of 2016. Beyond that, the reflection of how the discursive productions highlight the construction of identities on social media and how the asymmetrical relations of power are kept or modified on social practices on this environment. The main theoretical conductors exploited are Castells (2013), Lévy (2003), Bauman (2000), Foucalt (2012), Barbero (2014) and Recuero (2009). This study brought a discussion and understanding about the behavioral relations of the individual inserted on the technological field of social media, with the intention to elicit a reflection of these stances that affect the biggest part of the society. Therefore, there was the clarification that the virtual environment gives space to hate speech and to intolerant practices, as much as it offers an opportunity to reports to be consolidated as well.
