Resumo: This study deals with the teaching of Art, in dialog with the elements of Bumba Meu Boi do Maranhão, highlighting the objectives established by the PCNs, BNCC, Curriculum Proposal of the Municipality of Raposa. The aim of the research is to analyze the teaching and learning process in Art, based on the elements of Bumba Meu Boi do Maranhão, with an emphasis on the methodology of the Theatre of the Oppressed, highlighting the life stories of the 9th grade students of the Sarney Filho Integrated Unit, in the municipality of Raposa/MA and their ancestors, in order to understand the social, economic and cultural context. Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed method, with emphasis on Image Theater, considers the student as a spectator/actor, relating them to the socio-economic and cultural issues of Maranhão society. The theoretical foundation was based mainly on the contributions of Augusto Boal and Paulo Freire. The results point to the promotion of critical reflection, local cultural expression and the personal development of the students, contributing to the formation of citizens who are more aware and active in building a fairer and more democratic society.

O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar o processo de ensino e aprendizagem em Arte, a partir dos elementos do Bumba Meu Boi do Maranhão, com ênfase na metodologia do Teatro do Oprimido destacando-se as histórias de vida dos estudantes do 9o ano da Unidade Integrada Sarney Filho, no município de Raposa/MA e de seus antepassados, no intuito de se compreender o contexto social, econômico e cultural. O método do Teatro do Oprimido, de Augusto Boal, com destaque para o Teatro Imagem considera o estudante enquanto “espect./ator”, relacionando com as questões socioeconômicas e culturais da sociedade maranhense. A fundamentação teórica, baseou-se, principalmente, nas contribuições de Augusto Boal e Paulo Freire.
