Resumo: | The aim of this doctoral study entitled Finitude in Dance: Poetics of the After was to investigate and discuss the relationship between experiences of finitude, professional journeys and processes of constructing authorial poetics in the context of theatrical dance. To carry out this reflection and discussion, a bibliographic and conceptual research was launched, and approached the following themes: death, body, existence, experience, dance, and authorial poetics. Such themes were addressed, in a transversal way, in the fields of Philosophy, Anthropology, and Arts. In addition to this phase, regarding methodology, the research is qualitative by its nature and has a biographical, autobiographical and performative character. Ten dance artists with different performances, skills, and career trajectories were interviewed, considering: age, ethnic-racial and gender diversity, the plurality of bodies, diverse artistic experiences and dance training. The purpose of these interviews was to investigate how dance artists measure and relate their experiences of finitude with their creation processes and production of authorial poetics in theatrical dance. The interview materials were organized into 10 biographical notebooks and the data collected were analyzed based on the thematic and theoretical-conceptual focus of the research. The central question of this work was: regarding experiences of finitude, to what questions has your dance production been a response? In this investigative path, it is concluded that authorial poetics in dance, as answers to questions related to experiences of finitude, have been gestures of (r)existence and encouragement of bodies and subjectivities that contribute both to a more diverse artistic scene and to a professional context with new and/or other perspectives of action. |
