Resumo: This dissertation focus on the morphosyntax of Shimakonde, a Bantulanguage spoken mainly at north of Mozambique and Tanzania. The data were collected through fieldwork activities. The main objective is to examine the morphosyntax and the realization of the voice category in the language. The emphasis is on the non-canonical passive. In these structures, the morphology resembles the active voice, since there is no realization of the passivization morpheme {-igw-}, which usually occurs in the canonical passive. The verbal steam receives the morpheme of noun class 2 {va-}. However, this morpheme does not trigger agreement with any argument of the predicate. We assume that that the morpheme {va-} reflects a new morphological realization of the passive Voice.

Foi desenvolvido por meio de trabalho de campo com falantes nativos e investiga, especificamente, a morfossintaxe e processos de realização de voz na língua, com ênfase em construções passivas não canônicas. Nessas construções, a morfologia se assemelha à de voz ativa, pois não há a realização do morfema de passivização {-igw-}, característico das passivas canônicas. Além disso, a morfologia de concordância de objeto (que se realiza, por exemplo, pelos morfemas da classe nominal 1 {-mu-} para a terceira pessoa do singular e da classe nominal 2 {-va-} para a terceira pessoado plural), também continua presente na estrutura verbal, situação que não deveria acontecer em sentenças monoargumentais. Por fim, essas construções apresentam em sua estrutura verbal o morfema de concordância de sujeito da classe nominal 2 {va-}, utilizado para a terceira pessoa do plural. No entanto, esse morfema exerce uma função distinta, pois não engatilha concordância com nenhum DP da sentença.
