Resumo: This study concerns Sergio Magnanis contribution and influence in the musical circle of Belo Horizonte. One of its goals is to enlighten the life and the artistic thinking of Maestro Magnani, as well as to bring about one of his piano works (Suite Brasiliana). This document attemps to demonstrate the influence of Magnani, to expose the context and the state of musical development in Belo Horizonte before and after his arrival to Brazil. The impact of his activities as musician, pedagogue, conductor and musicologist supports the need of this present research. Furthermore, Magnani was very active in the making of an entire generation of musicians in Belo Horizonte and in other Brazilian cities.
