The present dissertation is developed from the question concerning how the human being relates with what transcends him or her and from the repercussions of this relationship to common life. The subject is inserted into the wider one of the relationship between man and the divine and, in this way, it touches the border between philosophy and theology. The work that functions as a base to the research is Clarice Lispectors novel Uma aprendizagem ou o livro dos prazeres, and this has the effect of making the border between philosophy and literature also important to the work. The choice of a Brazilian literary work also intends to lead the debate towards the option for researching works written by Brazilian Authors, with the objective of improving the knowledge of the way philosophy is made in this country. By starting from this initial question, the dissertation attempts to explain the philosophical ideas contained in the novel, establishing a dialogue between them and some concepts of the classical philosophical tradition, such as the Kierkegaardean concepts of instant and paradox.
