Resumo: | In mineral beneficiation processes, the grinding stage consumes the most energy among all operations, as the reduction in the size of the ore particle is essential for the liberation of particles which will undergo the ore concentration process. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of fragmentation in the grinding process of an iron ore in the presence of six dispersant reagents. Granulometric analyses of each fragmentation product in the presence and absence of dispersants were comparatively evaluated. The results demonstrated that the dispersant action is effective, showing more pronounced granulometric reductions in the presence of these reagents. Comparing the material passing through the 0.38 μm mesh, 18.40% passers were observed in the presence of dispersants against 1.35% passers in their absence. The study highlighted the importance of these reagents in the grinding process efficiency, potentially contributing significantly to reducing operational costs with the energy applied in the iron ore beneficiation process. A special attention should be given to the application of these reagents for industrial use in iron ore beneficiation. |
