As will be presented throughout this work, the academic universe has shown an increasing interest in deepening research in relation to gesture and music. This project proposes a study in this sense, focusing on the Fundação Internacional de Capoeira Angola (FICA-BH), where social, historical and anthropological aspects surrounding the object of study will be addressed. Also through analysis, we seek to identify gestures present in the performance of the group in question, investigating how they relate to music and the importance of this relationship in the artistic manifestation as a whole. This is a qualitative study with an inscription from the perspective of Ethnomusicology, where, in order to provide support and achieve the above proposed, historical and contextual questions linked to Afro-Brazilian culture are presented, in addition to information related to the cultural manifestation that is the focus of the present work – capoeira. Therefore, as a result of bibliographical research, information collected and related to the gesture is presented and discussed together with field research carried out mainly in the group mentioned above, always aiming to understand the musical gesture in capoeira Angola.
