Resumo: This is a descriptive work that aims to list, systematize and analyze, through verbal valency, verbs classified as dicendi or verb of communication in the literature. I intend to study the relationship between form and meaning in this group of verbs and test Levin's (1993) statement that there is a relation between the meaning of the verb and its syntactic behavior, and that any group of verbs that share similar meanings have similarities of constructs to which they may occur. I define a construction of communication as one in which there is a transmission of a message content from an emitter to a recipient. Based on this definition, I analyze 35 verbs classified in the literature as of "communication". Obviously, the list contains many more verbs than the ones analyzed. A preliminary survey of 78 verbs (suggested by Levin's list, 1993 pp. 202-212) suggests that the subject of sentences is possibly always the Agent that is, the emitter, which is already a hypothesis from which to start with the study of the corresponding Portuguese verbs. The elaborate semantic roles ("emitter", "receiver" and "message content" - called cognitive semantic relations, or CSRs, by Perini (2015), and the schematic semantic roles (Agent, Message, Goal) are To find some relationships, to seek regularities and irregularities in these relations. A question to be answered is whether the elaborated relations (such as "speaker") can be derived from the schematic role (Agent) taking into account traces of meaning of the verbs in question - which would free us from the need to define these roles as exclusive to communication verbs. This work is part of the Valency Dictionary of Brazilian Portuguese Verbs. The project aims to develop a dictionary of Brazilian Portuguese verbs and is coordinated by Mario A. Perini at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). This study has as basic theoretical reference the works of Jackendoff (1972, 1990); Levin (1993); Borba (1996); And Perini (2008, 2010, 2015).
