The present study is a quantitative and qualitative investigation aimed at understanding how multiple percussion is taught in undergraduate percussion programs at Brazilian higher education institutions, identifying the solo repertoire studied, and assessing teachers' understanding of the importance of studying multiple percussion. It is believed that the study of multiple percussion is an important part of the formation of this instrumentalist, as the technical and interpretative difficulties encountered in this instrumental modality can prepare the student for the various challenges of professional life. However, the teaching of multiple percussion seems to be a little-discussed topic, especially in Brazil, making the literature on it relatively scarce. This work aims to help fill this gap by raising and contributing to discussions inherent to this subject. To this end, a study of the literature related to the creation, definition, evolution, and teaching of multiple percussion in the academic context will be carried out, as well as the application of questionnaires and conducting interviews, with the aim of collecting data that help elucidate some questions that will be raised throughout the project.
