This study aims to understand how the proposed ALFALETRAR project is developed in a Child Education institution in the county of Lagoa Santa, in the Metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The ALFALETRAR Project is an action of training that develops eight years ago and reaches all teachers in the county and that addresses the issue of literacy and literacy. The study was developed from a point of view of the subject by means of a socio-historical qualitative approach, the study mode case. It is based on the theoretical principles of Lev Vygotsky, and other authors that study literacy and early childhood education (Baptista: 2010; Ferreiro: 1985; Soares: 2009; Kramer: 2006). The experience with the development of this research allowed us to conclude that: the regent teacher responsible for the class in which conducted the observations legitimized the project; there were some inconsistencies between the practices of teacher, his speech and the views expressed by the project; Alfaletrar the Project is committed to ensuring the right of children to learn to read and write; reading and writing in kindergarten become significant when conceived as social practices; no need to reflect on the importance of planning, organize, record, evaluate, but also think of an organization in kindergarten the child's perspective.
